The paradox of performing for an audience solely for the sake of recognition. The absurdity of conforming to expectations for the sole purpose of pleasing others. The artificiality that can be inherent in compromising one's artistic vision for the pursuit of popularity. I live for the applause. Question the motivations behind your creative pursuits and consider the authenticity of your artistic endeavours. Are you happy with what you are doing or are you just putting up a performance? Sherie Margaret Ngigi

Sherie Margaret Ngigi (b. 1996) is a visual artist, photographer, and filmmaker born, raised, and currently living in Kenya. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Film Production and Directing from the United States International University of Africa. Margaret has been practicing photography since 2015, during which she has won awards such as the 2022 East African Photography Awards and been nominated as the 2020 Photo London Emerging Photographer of the Year. Internationally she has exhibited her work at art fairs such as Photo Basel and Photo London, Shanghai Art Fair and has done solo shows in Kenya & London. She considers her work to be her own personal diary, a visual record of her growth and development as she navigates the world around her. She joined the web3 space in 2021 where she successfully sold her fine art photography, exhibited her work in numerous countries and championed African artist in the blockchain space by leading the east African nft community and hosting the very first multi country NFT Africa conference in 2024.
